Module 2
Secure Software Development (Computer Science)
Unit 11
Future trends in Secure Software Development
Learning Outcomes
- Give examples of fog computing, IoT and Cyber Physical System components and solutions.
- Describe some of the security issues with the above-mentioned systems.
- Recommend emerging technologies and solutions to investigate.
Debate: Microservices and Microkernels
- The forum message says that: "Torvalds has been proven wrong and it only took nearly thirty years. Microservices and microkernels are the future." A forum post disagreeing with the statement was posted. Link to the discussion forum's post: here
Assessment: Development Individual Project: Coding Output and Evidence of Testing
- The application selected in unit 6, i.e., the online retailer, was developed in this unit. It was tested against the functional and security requirements mentioned in the design document. A ZIP file consisting of Python files, README file, and a 1500-word report was submitted. Link to the GitHub repository: here
Meeting Notes
Meeting 1
- Date: 17 October 2024
- Time (UK): 17:00–18:00
- Venue: Google Meet
- Attendees: Adriaan Joubert, Hristo Todorov, and Shraddha Gore
-
Agenda:
- The meeting was scheduled to complete unit 11’s debate.
- The forum had a message saying, “Torvalds has been proven wrong and it only took nearly thirty years. Microservices and microkernels are the future.”
- The individual views about the statement were shared. We, as individuals and as a team, disagreed with the statement. This is because Linux is proof that a monolithic project can succeed and that many people can collaborate on such a project.
Reflection
- During Unit 11, despite competing work commitments, I ensured that the artefacts were updated in accordance with the module announcements.
